Our Appeal

Mr Keith Hague Chief Executive Officer of The Wellington Hospital London

From Mr Keith Hague, Chief Executive officer of The Wellington Hospital, London and Chairman of the Wellington £1 million Appeal 2010.

Dear Everyone,
Thank you for taking an interest in The Wellington £1 million Appeal 2010.

We decided that this year we would focus our fund raising efforts and we have chosen two of the most deserving children’s charities to benefit from your generosity.

We have chosen one charity where the money we raise will have an immediate and dramatic effect on the lives of many children, orphans who already live in indescribable poverty in South Africa. There are literally tens of thousands of orphaned children in sub Saharan Africa whose lives have been devastated by the death of parents who have succumbed to HIV/Aids. The British Red Cross is helping to rebuild their lives and give them a future.

Back here in the UK there are 350,000 children who are living with the constant dangers and discomfort of type 1 diabetes. The second charity we have chosen is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, (JDRF), the charity which exists to find the cure for type 1 diabetes. JDRF is the world’s leading charitable provider of funds for type 1 diabetes research.

For 30 years it has been fundamentally involved in the delivery of advances in this field and the charity also provides practical support and information for families affected by the condition.

Two great causes; two great charities; but both need your help to make life better for these young people.

We hope you’ll feel able to make a donation and if you go to the VirginGiving section on this website, you can make a donation which can also benefit from a tax refund on your donation. You can also send me a cheque made out to The Wellington Appeal 2010 via The Wellington Hospital, Wellington Place, London NW8 9LE.

Thank you for helping us.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Keith Hague
